Today, I am going to talk about the true story of GQ and FHM.
Firstly, people know that GQ and FHM are men's magazines. While FHM is For Him Magazine, GQ is Gentleman Quarterly.
Sample of GQ:

This is GQ Taiwan, published since 1996. This is the latest cover of GQ Taiwan featuring Una, well plus Nikita and Yin.
And this is FHM:

FHM Taiwan, September 2016. Features Popu Lady. First published in 2000.
You probably wish to ask about why GQ can survive and strong although FHM and Zoo is closed among men's magazine publication despite FHM keeps websites, including Facebook.
People, GQ is an upmarket men's magazine. Created in 1957 by Conde Nast, the magazine tends to upmarket men and male person is often used as cover of GQ compared to women. Furthermore, Conde Nast, an Advance Publication company, has a fixed network worldwide through different office in different country, although Conde Nast also publishes GQ under joint vennture, well plus License or Copyright Cooperation.
As for FHM, it was based in UK and founded in 1985 as For Him, 28 years after GQ was first published. For Him used only men as magazine cover until 1994, when For Him was converted to FHM, which meaned For Him Magazine. From 1994, sexy women was used in FHM cover to promote readership. Year 1995 saw the First FHM 100 and the first winner was Claudia Schiffer, a German super model. Gilian Anderson was the First FHM 100 winner voted by public.
Although FHM used to feature predominantly sexy women as cover, Britney Spears one was the most memorable because she was transforming into real women from girl, at the age of 18.

FHM UK, July 1999.
The cover made her became the most memorable FHM cover, voted in 2015. Britney Spears had won FHM 100 Champion in 2004, one year after Halle Berry became the oldest well plus the 1st and only black women to win the FHM 100. The youngest one to win was Keira Knightley, in 2005.
People will think thay why FHM was declining compared to GQ and Men's Health. Many people know that the mass influence of internet is changing the media consumption habit of FHM readers
, particularly male.
Well, I believe that sometimes FHM had useful articles, on Formula One fitness, warfare, tech, and terrorism issues, featured on last cover of FHM UK magazine.
Unlike GQ, FHM didn't have a fixed office worldwide because the license of FHM varied, until 2008, it belonged to EMAP before transferred to Bauer Media Group and the licence of FHM varies, ranging from Astro of Malaysia to Mediacorp of Singapore.
Year 2015 saw the end of FHM Singapore because of the weak of FHM to compete with other magazine in Singapore. Also, the same fate goes on FHM UK and FHM Malaysia thanks to the internet influence that made the publication of FHM was terminated. While FHM UK became onl I need only after it's fellow, Zoo, was terminated too due to low readership as well as FHM, the FHM in Malaysia was converted to Rojak Daily under the leadership of ex FHM Malaysia editor, Amresh S. Jessy. FHM Singapore is now Upgrademan, also belongs to Mediacorp, and commanded by ex FHM Singapore. editor, Dennis Yin.
People will think that, our Miss Astro can have a photo shoot in FHM. Yes, it's true. but you never think about our Miss Astro can shoot in FHM Singapore just as Denise. Our Miss Astro, Denise, joined MedoaCorp. for this year, above one year after FHM Singapore was terminated. Unlike Denise, this time, you can never hear any Miss Astro, well plus any Miss Chinese International Pageant featured on FHM because FHM was closed in UK, Malaysia and Singapore between September 2015 to January 2016. While I believe that our Serene the 1Malaysian goddess who joined TVB, is fit for GQ and Esquire Malaysia (she can shoot photos for GQ Taiwan because there is no Malaysian edition of GQ), believing GQ and Esquire are more noble to her. compared to FHM, which some people. think FHM is junk compared to GQ and Esquire.
This is my view about the differentiation of GQ and FHM. Thank you for enjoying this article. This is Manuel Smith, man who fears birthday song, signing off.
