Today,  I am going to talk about the importance of biofuel as gasoline alternative in Malaysia.

Malaysia is knows as non-OPEC petroleum exporter that we depend predominantly on petroleum as key of economics. But price of gasoline that shakes every week will cause the turbulence among gasoline station business, under the downstream business in petroleum.

Unlike Venezuela, a smacking-ban petroleum exporter,  we depend on various economics outside petroleum including tourism, manufacturing, and various. This can boost our nation ecomony that one day, our Malaysian economy can be shaken, not stirred without the petroleum.

Some people will think that, is biofuel better than gasoline?

Well,  I believe, yes.

Biofuel consists of various fuel, including ethanol fuel,  biodiesel, and so on.

The ethanol fuel is ethyl alcohol commonly found on alcoholic beverages, in which it's commonly used as fuel additive for automobiles.  Well,  I believe that although we are Muslim-majority country, we can try to use ethanol fuel for automobiles, which is better and more efficient than lead,  that leaded gasoline is banned in Malaysia from 2000 to prevent air pollution.

Well, according to some investigation, I found that Malaysians are highly ranked as food wastage,  particularly during the Ramadhan festival, that food wastage is common, because Muslims are forbidden to consume foods during daylight, with some exception.

The food waste is common in Malaysia, that makes me think about a question,  "Why we don't use food waste as liquid biofuel as gasoline alternative? " Well, we can collect every food waste,  then we can produce biofuel from food waste,  not only recycling food waste, but also good for environment.

Biofuel is a good idea as gasoline alternative in Malaysia that undergoes price shaking,  depends on weeks.  Not only it's good for economy cars like Perodua, but it's also good for hypercars like Koenigsegg One:1. If you can see the Koenigsegg Agera series,  do you think that it uses high octane gasoline? Negative, instead they choose E85 biofuel, believing biofuel is more powerful and cleaner than gasoline.

Well,  I believe that ethanol fuel is cheaper and is commonly used in Global North and South, from the Northern America and Brazil, to EU and China, ethanol fuel is commonly used.  There are various types of ethanol fuel, depending on blend, while Western Europe uses about 5% ethanol fuel,  Brazil,  the largest smacking-ban country in the world, uses E100 while USA uses E85. Brazil is the first nation to use pure ethanol fuel, thanks to the successful agricultural industry in the nation, while they use sugar cane to produce biofuel. Brazil, as a tropical nation, ranks second in producing ethanol fuel while they believe that ethanol is good to prevent any greenhouse gas emissions that can cause greenhouse effect that produced from the gasoline,  while protecting environment. Bioethanol for fuel is actually a need in Malaysia to replace gasoline total and complete, not only renewable, but also can reduce any greenhouse gas emission like carbon dioxide produced from gasoline because plants, like sugarcane that is massive planted and produced in Brazil, can absorb carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen during photosynthesis, keeping Malaysia can free from air pollution, which is good for drivers and the nation,  because our country is often plagued with traffic congestion that can cause the air pollution, which doesn't existed in the use of biofuel.

Biofuel is commonly used as racing cars, including Formula One and WEC LMP1, that Formula One started using 5.75% ethanol included gasoline for hybrid engine from 2008 in which 5.75% biofuel is more powerful for Formula 1 cars regardless of team. Formula One cars are more powerful recently thanks to the use of alcohol-added gasoline,  and also hybrid turbo engine introduced in 2014, that can goes 900 horsepower and above recently. For LMP1 and LMP2, they use 10% ethanol included in racing fuel for better racing, well plus the engine to keep the car can complete the endurance, especially in 24 Hours of Le Mans aka Grand Prox of Endurance and Efficiency.

Knowing the benefits and importance of biofuel, our Malaysian can introduce ethanol included RON 95 for all station,  believing that it's very efficient and cleaning the environment.  Malaysian can do it from 10% ethanol fuel first to adapt the biofuel, particularly on RON 95, one of most commonly used fuel in Malaysia, before Malaysia can adapt full ethanol fuel like Brazil,  than Malaysia will never worry about gasoline price and deprivation which is good for drivers in Malaysia while keeping a clean environment and air.

These are the writings that benefits and importance of biofuel in Malaysia. This is Manuel Smith, signing off.
