Geostorm

I am going to talk about Geostorm, a disaster science fiction action thriller film by Skydance and Warner Bros. Pictures, the second Skydance film distributed outside Paramount Pictures, a long time allies in Hollywood film industry.

Geostorm depicts a genius architect, Jake Lawson, has created "Dutch Boy", a natural disaster defense system commissioned by 17 nations, acting as climate controlling satellite surrounding Earth centered around the International Climate Special Station. He is replaced by relatively calmer brother, Max Lawson, after a congress senate hearing, in 2019.

In 2022, the Dutch Boy becomes malfunctioned and a series of turbulence begins, including mass freezing of Afghanistan, death of Ali Mahmood, an Indian Muslim ICSS officer, =and gas leak in Hong Kong that Cheng has survived. Cheng later tells Max about they have to fix this. If not, there will be an epic disaster, named as "Geostorm", while President of the United States, Andrew Palma, tries to cover up this to prevent political turmoil on 17 nations while he is ready to hand the ICSS to international authority.

When Jake here returned to ICSS, he retrieved a solid state drive that contains the evidence of the death of Mahmood, when he retrieved the flash drive, he realized that there is a virus contained in the drive. He suspects someone is installing virus inside it, by using this space station as weapon to create Geostorm, while Max here unfolds an assassination of President Palma, leaded by corrupt United States Secretary of States, Leonard Dekkim, while he wishes to use the satellite as weapon to create a Geostorm, destroying any nations, regardless of Global North and South, by creating multiple disaster, including mass freezing of Brazil the largest smacking-ban soccer nation, hail in Japan, tornado in India, mass explosion in Russia, and a huge tsunami in the United Arab Emirates. Dekkom wants to do this, along with an inferior British ICSS officer, Duncan, whom he wishes to assassinate President Palma, in Colorado, during his presidential election speech, so that he can take over the position of the President of the United States, and leader of the free world, while making United States great again just as in 1945, when United States threw two nuclear weapon to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, ended the World War II. His plan is failure and jailed, while Duncan here is killed after a fight with Max Lawson, while Max here is saved along with Uta Fassbender, a German ICSS science officer.

Weeks later, United States has launched a new and more powerful and secured space station and the owner here is everyone, and there will be no more Geostorm.

Based on this film, well, I found that there is a political turbulence theme in this disaster film. The satellite is used to save people, but some corrupt and power-hungry people, they wish to use it to use it as a weapon and assassinating the President to take over the seat to rule the world.

Speaking of the politics, you probably know that United States was a developing country before 20th century, when United States had become more powerful than the United States, particularly after World War II, when United States here had developed two nuclear weapon and sent to Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war. United States here had a Cold War with Soviet Union to fight for power until the dissolution of Soviet Union, when United States has became super nation. As a leader of the world, United States controls everything, including the war.

In this film, Leonard Dikkom, knows that the failure of society around the world, regardless of First, Second, and Third World Country, including political corruption, protests, religious persecution, particularly Christians and non religious one. Saddened by this situation, he decided to stage an apocalypse, by not mean of nuclear warfare, instead of horrendous disaster, causing massacre, and kills president Palma to take over his seat. A President of the United States is a person that can rule the nation. Being a president is must at least 35 as natural born, while has an excellence political backgoround and heritage. Dikkom, knowing the Palma is useless, knowing that presidential campaign, and presidential election commercial, well plus donation is just a waste of time and he realized that he can't win, therefore he decided to stage an assassination. And also Duncan, Duncan here was a low level scientist and paid was low, but he later became an ICSS Dutch Boy scientist and stated his crrupt plan, whom he initialized a self destruct program, and he is dead when he is pulled outside to space after a fight with Jake. Based on these, I believe that ome can be humble as dust, but we cannot be distorted as maggots. Because they cannot know themselves, they become corrupted and causing a horrendous mistake. This wuld never happens if they can look for a better way to show themselves.
